Helius was set up by Julie Gorman and Rich Cutler in 2000 to offer bespoke services to publishers.
After obtaining degrees in chemistry, the partners in Helius worked for large scientific, technical and medical (‘STM’) publishers as desk editors on journals and books. When publishing was beginning to fully embrace the digital age, they saw an opportunity to expand their skills and interests in books, magazines and other printed material, and created Helius.
Beginning with editing, proofreading and project management, over the years they expanded their services to include typesetting, illustration and design. Initially, they worked mainly on scientific and technical books and journals, but this has broadened to include a wide range of subjects and types of publication.
